Baby care
Everyday baby care, one calm routine at a time
Sleep, bathing, cord care, and quiet observation of how your baby grows. These notes describe common newborn rhythms and safe basics, and they are not a substitute for advice from your pediatrician or midwife.
Daily care essentials
Newborns sleep in short stretches and need frequent, gentle attention. Keep the routine simple and consistent.

Safe sleep space
Place baby on the back, on a firm flat mattress, with no pillows, bumpers, or loose blankets. Follow your care team's guidance.

Gentle bathing
Sponge baths are enough until the umbilical cord falls off. Keep the room warm, water lukewarm, and move calmly.

Cord care
Keep the stump clean and dry, fold the diaper below it, and call a professional if redness or odor appears.
First twelve weeks
Watching for early milestones
In the first weeks, babies begin to follow faces with their eyes, lift their heads briefly during tummy time, and respond to voices and familiar touch. Every baby moves at their own pace.
If you have concerns about feeding, weight, or development, speak with your pediatrician. Sharing these observations at checkups helps them see the full picture.
